North Ft. Myers Lose, 5-0, to Ducks, Gonzáles
Wednesday, May 3rd , 2062
Arturo Gonzáles of the Long Island Ducks was on top of his game.
The 19-year-old tantalized the North Ft. Myers Gators with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0.
"He had the changeup working," North Ft. Myers manager Felipe Palazzola said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Long Island hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Gonzáles told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
