Parker Tags Lake Monsters for 5 Hits
Monday, September 5th , 2061
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Mal Parker, it came around today.
The 23-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Monster Field to pace the 13-1 Plymouth Rocks victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters.
Vermont skipper Alfonso Núñez told reporters in the press room that "Parker deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Parker hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Mal Parker singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Parker has banged out 8 hits in 19 at-bats for a .421 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .450 pace and his totals also include 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
