Martínez on Fire: 5-for-5 for Pawnee
Friday, May 5th , 2062
After a 5-hit effort to lead Pawnee's 8-5 victory over the Port Royal Disaster, first baseman Claudio Martínez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the M3L Triple A-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Ballpark of Port Royal with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Disaster.
"His swing is getting there," said ParksNRec skipper Jesús Salazar, who spoke glowingly of Martínez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Claudio did that to perfection."
Claudio Martínez singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
